Fairfax, Va. – (February 26, 2022) – The Fordham men's track & field team opened up competition at the 2022 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday at the George Mason Fieldhouse in Fairfax, Virginia.
Through five scored events, George Mason leads the team competition with 51 points, while Rhode Island in second with 49. VCU is third with 24 points, followed by La Salle (16), Massachusetts (15), Saint Louis (15), Saint Joseph's (12), Davidson (11), Fordham (1), and St. Bonaventure (0).
Fordham's lone scoring event on day one was in the last event of the evening. The Rams' distance medley relay team of
Nathan Bezuneh,
Isaiah James,
Justin Lombardi, and
Daniel Asher scored eighth in a season-best time of 10:15.44.
Out of the other scored events, Fordham just missed adding to their point total in the long jump, weight throw, and 5,000-meter run.
Justin Rhee finished ninth in the long jump with a distance of 22' 3 ¾", while
Alec Wargo was 12
th in the weight throw with a season-best mark of 49' 7 ¾".
Then in the 5,000 meters,
Brandon Hall took ninth overall in a season-best time of 14:39.84 with
Steven Zucca in 15
th at 15:13.46.

In the other events on day one, it was preliminary runs, where Fordham had four individuals qualify for Sunday finals.
Antony Misko started the qualifying, by taking fifth in the 500 meters with a time of 1:05.93, while teammate
Erik Brown was just outside the qualifiers in 10
th at 1:07.29.
In the 800 meters,
Jeremiah LaDuca qualified second for Sunday's finals with a time of 1:55.24, with teammate
Eric Jacobson in ninth at 1:57.79.
The 1,000-meter event saw two Rams make Sunday's final.
Zalen Nelson qualified second at 2:28.95 with
Patrick Tuohy in seventh at 2:31.14.
Samuel Wilcox then took 13
th (2:3272) with
Christopher Strzelinski in 17
th (2:34.42).
Fordham's remaining competitors on Saturday were James in the 400 meters (15
th – 52.30),
Kenneth Maxwell in the 60-meter dash (15
th - 7.10) and 200-meter dash (16
th – 23.48), and
Robert LeFevre in the 200-meter dash (11
th – 22.94).
The Atlantic 10 Championship concludes on Sunday with events, starting at 9:00 AM.
