Track & Field Wraps Up at Rutgers Invitational

Rams Now Prep for 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship

New York, N.Y. – (February 12, 2022) – A busy weekend for the Fordham track & field team continued on Saturday, as the Rams split the team between the Rutgers Invitational at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York and the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston.
 
For the Rams competing on day two of the Rutgers Invitational, Kathryn Kelly continued her strong weekend by making the finals of the 60-meter dash.  She qualified for the final by running 7.69 seconds, while Kyla Hill ran 7.83 seconds for 15th place in the semifinals.  Kelly then posted a time of 7.80 seconds in the final for ninth place.
 
Kelly then returned to the track for the 200-meter dash along with teammate Skylar Harris.  Kelly had her second top ten finish of the day, taking tenth overall in 24.91 seconds, with Harris in 30th place at 26.17 seconds.

In the women's 800 meters, Fordham had three runners compete in the event with Abigail Llach being the top performer in 25th place in 2:22.06.  Marin Bogulski followed in 28th in 2:22.53, while Angelica Piccini was 32nd in 2:25.04.
 
The Rams had three remaining individuals for the women's events, starting with Jade Dyer-Kennedy in the triple jump, who finished 17th with a mark of 33' ½".  Then in the 3,000 meters, Caitrina Barton was 32nd overall in 10:43.22 with Nathania Tan in 40th at 11:05.52.
 
The last event of the day was the 4x400 relay, where Michele Daye, Dominique Valentine, Ruby Avila, and Bogulski were tenth in 4:06.25.
 
Over in the men's competition, the Rams competed in six events with three top ten finishes.  Justin Rhee took ninth in the triple jump, while the 4x400 group of Isaiah James, Erik Brown, Safo Kirton, and Justin Lombardi finished ninth in a time of 3:28.02.
 
Brown and Lombardi also competed individually on Saturday with Brown registering a time of 1:21.22 in the 600 meters, good for fourth overall, while Lombardi was 29th in the 800 meters in 1:59.82.
 
The final competitors for the Rams were John Arvantides in the 3,000 meters, who took 28th (9:24.08), with Eric Galante posting a time of 23.85 seconds in the 200 meters (34th).
 
The Rams now set their sights on the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship, which will be held February 26-27, at the George Mason Fieldhouse in Fairfax, Virginia.
