Bronx, N.Y. – (January 8, 2022) – The Fordham track & field team returned to action on Saturday at the Lombardi Center Fieldhouse, competing against Stony Brook at the Fordham Alumni Meet. There was no team scoring.
The two teams competed in 14 events on the afternoon, beginning with the six field events.
In the women's field events,
Tara Coyne had the top marks in both the pole vault (9' ¼") and high jump (4' 9 ½"), while
Kathryn Kelly finished first in the long jump at 18' 2 ½".
Bridie Bommentre had the top mark in the triple jump at 33' 2 ½" with
Amanda Gurth (34' 10 ½") and
Casey Metzler (50 5 ½") posting the top distance in the shot put and weight throw, respectively.
Over on the track, Kelly also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.65 seconds.
Mary Kathryn Underwood had the top time in the 500 meters at 1:19.94. In the 1000 meters,
Taylor Mascetta had the top time in the 1000 meters at 3:10.63, good for fourth, while
Clodagh McGroary grabbed second in the mile run in 5:38.84. The 3000-meter run saw
Madeleine Ryan finished second in 11:30.49.
In the relays, the Rams' group of Underwood,
Caitrina Barton, Ryan, and
Helen Moloney had the top time, clocking in at 4:25.63, while the distance medley team of
Alexandra Thomas,
Kyla Hill,
Marin Bogulski, and
Nicoleta Papavasilakis placed second in 13:04.61.

In men's field events,
Justin Rhee had the top marks in both the long jump (23' ¾") and the triple jump (43' 7 ¾"), with
Andrew Ramsammy clearing 6' 2" in the high jump for the top performance. The throwing events saw
Alec Wargo place first in the weight throw at 46' 10 ¼", while being second in the shot put at 39' 7 ¾".
On the track,
Robert LeFevre won both sprints, posting a time of 7.17 seconds in the 60-meter dash and 23.28 in the 200-meter dash, which was followed by
Zalen Nelson winning the 500 meters in 1:06.60. In the 1000 meters,
Samuel Wilcox was the top Ram performer, taking second in 2:35.06, while
Rodolfo Sanchez placed third in the mile run at 4:19.86. In the 3,000 meters,
Steven Zucca had the Rams' top time at 9:08.32, good for second.
In the relays,
Jack Reilly,
Jack O'Connell,
Antony Misko, and Zucca had the best time at 3:37.27, while the distance medley relay of
Jeremiah LaDuca, Nelson,
Erik Brown, and
Nathan Bezuneh placed second in 10:40.50.
The Rams will next be in action on January 15
th at the Lions Indoor Invitational, hosted at the Armory Track & Field Center, beginning at 5:00 PM.
