New York, N.Y. – (Jan. 21, 2022) – The Fordham track & field team got the weekend off to a fast start, as the women placed first out of 15 teams at the Ramapo Season Opener, while the men were 12
th out of 19 teams.
The day of action was highlighted by the performances of
Kyla Hill and
Kathryn Kelly. Hill won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.75 seconds, while Kelly took first in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 24.96 seconds. Kelly also added a second-place finish in the long jump event with a mark of 17' 10 ¼".
The Rams had four other runner-up finishes in the women's competition, starting with
Dominique Valentine placing second in the 400 meters in a season-best time of 1:00.41, while
Taylor Mascetta grabbed second in the 800 meters in 2:20.06.
Amanda Gurth finished second in the shot put at 34' 5 ¾" with the 4x400 relay team of Valentine,
Michele Daye,
Molly Mulvaney, and
Marin Bogulski getting the last of the second-place finishes, as they clocked in at 4:06.69.
Other top five performers on Friday included
Casey Metzler in the weight throw (3
rd – 45' 8 ½"),
Skylar Harris in the long jump (3
rd – 17' 9"),
Jade Dyer-Kennedy in the triple jump (4
th – 35' 4 ¾"),
Bridget Alex (3
rd – 18:18.14) and
Maddy Kopec (5
th – 19:11.83) in the 5,000 meters,
Sarah Galvin in the 200 meters (4
th – 26.45), Daye in the 400 meters (4
th – 1:01.79),
Mary Kathryn Underwood in the 800 meters (3
rd – 2:22.22), and
Madeleine Ryan in the 3,000 meters (5
th – 10:46.23).

The Rams also saw six others score on the day, starting with
Ruby Avila placing sixth in the 200 meters (26.56).
Marin Bogulski (1:44.33) and
Angelica Piccini (1:46.05) finished sixth and eighth respectively in the 600 meters with
Abigail Llach taking seventh in the 800 meters (2:28.30) and
Nicoleta Papavasilakis ending up seventh in the mile run (5:26.49).
Nathania Tan was also seventh in the 3,00 meters (10:57.69).
In the men's competition,
Erik Brown had the best finish for Fordham, placing second in the 600 meters in a time of 1:22.48. He was also a part of the Rams' 4x400 relay team with
Antony Misko,
Eric Jacobson, and
Jack Reilly that scored fourth in 3:29.23.
Alec Wargo had the next best finish, placing fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 43' 8 ½", while
Brandon Hall took seventh in the mile run at 4:21.64. Jacobson was the final top eight finisher for the Rams, placing eighth in the 800 meters in 1:58.95.

th – 52.93).
The Rams will next be in action on January 28-29, when they compete at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston, Massachusetts.
