Track & Field Wraps Up Weekend at Monmouth Meet

Casey Metzler Sets School Record in Hammer Throw for Second Time This Weekend, while Hill & Raefski Win Events

West Long Branch, N.J. – (April 18, 2021) – The Fordham track & field squad wrapped up a busy and eventful weekend on Sunday at the Monmouth Meet at Kessler Stadium in West Long Branch, New Jersey.
 
Leading the way was Casey Metzler, who broke the school record in the women's hammer throw for the second time this weekend with a distance of 145' 9", which was good for fifth overall.  She also placed 15th in the shot put later in the day (34' 4").
 
The Rams also had multiple season- and personal-best performances on the day, including two event wins.  Kyla Hill won the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 12.37, while taking second in the 200-meter dash in 25.35 seconds.  She also ran a leg of the 4x100 relay, joining Michele Daye, Skylar Harris, and Ruby Avila, that grabbed third in 49.21 seconds.
 
The other event winner on Sunday was Nicholas Raefski in the 5,000-meter run, as he and Brandon Hall posted a 1-2 finish in the event.  Raefski recorded a career-best time of 14:33.70, with Hall clocking in at 14:42.28.
 
Aside from the record breaker and event wins, Fordham's Zalen Nelson and Antony Misko each posted season-best performances in their respective events.  Nelson was second in the 800-meter run in a career-best time of 1:52.52, just ahead of teammate Jeremiah LaDuca, who was fourth in 1:53.02.  Misko was third overall in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 49.61 seconds with teammate Arthur Gooden Jr. in fifth place at 50.20 seconds.
 
The duo of Misko and Gooden were also a part of the 4x400 relay with Erik Brown and Patrick Tuohy that finished second in a season-best mark of 3:19.11.
 
Fordham had four other top five finishes on the day, starting with Charlie Da Silva in the men's 1500 meters, who was fourth in 3:55.35, just ahead of fellow Ram Will Whelan in sixth (3:56.15).  Then in the women's 400-meter hurdles, Jilli Jones grabbed fourth in a team-best time of 1:08.64, while over in the field events, Jade Dyer-Kennedy (33' 10 ¼") and Sophia Jagoe-Seidl (124' 11 ½") were both fourth in the triple jump and javelin throw, respectively.
