Saturday Final Results
Lewisburg, Pa. – (November 20, 2021) – Day two of the 2021 Bucknell Swimming & Diving Invitational has wrapped up and it was another quality day for the Fordham Rams, which saw two event wins and another school record broken.
In the team scores, Towson still leads the women's competition with 1014.5 points, followed by Bucknell in second (891.5) and Connecticut in third (864.5). Fordham is fourth at 756.5 points with Davidson in fifth (643), La Salle in sixth (390.5), and Rider in seventh (164)
Towson also still leads the men's competition with 958 points, followed by Bucknell (834), Rider (665.5), NJIT (610), Davidson (577), Fordham (415), and La Salle (296.5).
The night of finals began with the 200 medley relay, where the Rams placed sixth in the women's event (1:43.43) and tenth in the men's event (1:34.05).
Things then kicked into gear with the 400 individual medley, as for the second straight night,
Ainhoa Martin etched her name in the Fordham record book. Martin won the event in a school record and NCAA "B" cut time of 4:15.75, besting the previous mark of 4:16.55 set by Megan Polaha in 2016.
Leire Martin joined her sister with a top five finish, taking fourth overall in 4:19.23, while
Alison Lin (4:25.48),
Emilie Krog (4:28.33), and
Ellen Brooks (4:42.73) scored tenth, 12
th, and 24
th, respectively.
On the men's side,
Daniel Langlois won the "B" final of the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:06.45, while
Doug Grisbaum scored 20
th overall in 4:17.69.

In the 100 butterfly, the Rams had five total finalists, starting with
Victoria Navarro taking seventh in 55.86 seconds, followed by
Jessica Zebrowski in 11
th (55.74) and
Kiara Norris in 16
th (57.79). For the men,
Vitalis Onu was the top performer, grabbing eighth overall in 50.22 seconds, with
Len Ray in 15
th place at 51.61 seconds.
The 200 freestyle was a big scoring event with eight Fordham finalists. The women were led by
Clare Culver, who was fifth overall in a time of 1:52.14, while
Audrey Tirrell (1:53.82) and
Zoei Howard (1:53.97) were 12
th and 13
th, respectively.
Luisa Rosa also scored 18
th in the event (1:53.54) with
Madeline Bergin in 23
rd (1:56.76). The men's race saw
Ethan Murray as the top Fordham finisher, taking 11
th in 1:42.95, while
Kavin Weerasinghe (1:46.13) and
Brian Desmond (1:46.94) were 23
rd, and 24, respectively.
The next event was the 100 breaststroke, which saw Fordham's second event win of the evening.
Becky Kamau posted the top time, winning the event in a time of 1:02.00, with A. Martin in sixth at 1:03.56.
Vaula Vekkeli grabbed 14
th overall (1:06.51) with
Eva Kaplan in 19
th place (1:06.72).
Nathan Nguyen was the Rams' top time for the men, as he clocked in at 56.75 seconds, good for seventh overall.
Taz Kanjanakaset (58.45) and
Kevin Zahariev (59.56) joined Nguyen in the scoring column, placing 19
th and 23
rd, respectively.
The 100 backstroke completed the individual swimming events for the night with three Rams in the finals. L. Martin scored for the second time on Saturday, finishing third overall in the women's event at 55.66 seconds.
Alex Wilhelm matched that finish in the men's event, as he was also third in 49.97 seconds.
Spencer Clarke was the final scorer, winning the "B" final for ninth overall in 49.93 seconds.
The final individual event was the women's one-meter dive, where
Natalie Ortof qualified for the finals, finishing third overall with a score of 261.35 points.
The last overall event was the 800 freestyle relay, which saw the Fordham women take second in 7:30.02, while the men were third in 6:51.62.
The Bucknell Invitational concludes on Sunday.
