Track & Field Hosts Robert Elkin Invitational

Rams Bring Home Eight Event Wins on Friday

Bronx, N.Y. – (January 10, 2020) – The Fordham track & field teams hosted their second home meet of the season on Friday night with the Robert Elkin Invitational, honoring the late New York reporter, who passed away last year.  The Rams welcomed competitors from Stony Brook, La Salle, Manhattan, and Iona, and came away with wins in eight events.
 
Junior Kathryn Kelly led the way for Fordham with a pair of events victories.  First, she won the long jump event with a distance of 18' ¼", and then came back to win the 60 meter dash in 7.75 seconds.
 
The Rams also dominated the relays winning three of the four relays.  The women's 4x800 relay of Sydney Snow, Helen Connolly, Taylor Mascetta, and Alexandra Thomas won their race in a time of 9:51.88, while the men's 4x800 team of Sean Sullivan, Christopher Strzelinski, Jack Keegan, and Jeremiah LaDuca took the top spot in 8:00.42.  The final relay winner was the men's 4x400 relay teal of Erik Brown, Arthur Gooden Jr., Kyle Mack, and Antony Misko, as the team clocked in at 3:22.79.
 
Other winners included Ryan Kutch in the mile run in 4:18.11, Zalen Nelson in the 800 meter run in 1:57.82, and Nikolas Reardon in the long jump with a distance of 23' 4".  Reardon also added a second place finish in the triple jump at 44' 6", while Alec Wargo was second in both the weight throw (50' 1 ¼") and the shot put (38' 2").
 
Fordham also got a number of runner-up finishes finish in the women's events, beginning with Sarrinagh Budris in the 400 meters (59.46) and Connolly in the 800 meters (2:21.71).  Radha Dooley took second in the high jump, clearing 5' 1 ¼", while Jade Dyer-Kennedy was runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 34' 11".  The final second place finish came in the 4x400 relay, where Budris, Gabrielle Schreib, Dominique Valentine, and Mary Kathryn Underwood clocked in at 4:06.43.

For team scoring, Fordham was first out of the five teams in the women's competition with 66 points, followed by Stony Brook (61), La Salle (46), Manhattan (35), and Iona (6).  In the men's competition, Fordham was took first with 69.5 points, with La Salle in second (47), Manhattan in third (35.5), Stony Brook in fourth (34), and Iona in fifth (26).
 
The Rams will be back in action on Saturday, January 18th, when the team competes at the Penn 8 Select Meet at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
