Track & Field Begins Outdoor Season at Army

Alexandra Williams & Sam Freeman Take First in the 200 Meters

West Point, N.Y. – (March 20, 2026) – The Fordham track & field team opened the outdoor portion of their season on Saturday at the Army West Point Open, held at the U.S. Military Academy.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Sam Freeman was the lone individual winner on Saturday for the Fordham men, earning the top spot in the 200-meter dash in a personal-best time of 21.44 seconds, while Nelson Lindsay was fifth in 22.55 seconds.
  • Liam Volz took second in the 100-meter dash in 11.11 seconds, while Menzel Thomas was third in the event (11.11) with Mario Gradnitzer in fifth (11.30).
  • Marcelino Hernandez-Peng grabbed third in the high jump (6' 3 ¼").
  • Matthew Febles earned a third place finish in the 1,500 meters with a personal-best time of 4:05.57.
  • Will Spierdowis grabbed fourth in the 800 meters in 1:57.77.
  • George Pomer had a pair of fourth places in the high jump (6' 1 ¼") and javelin throw (167' 1").
  • Noah Rubenstein finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 46' ¾", while Constentino Proscia was also fifth in the long jump (21' 5 ¼").
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Fordham posted three event wins on Saturday, starting with Alexandra Williams winning the 200-meter dash in 25.12 seconds.
  • Zoe Arakelian took first in the high jump, clearing 5' 5 ¾".
  • Alexandra Manetovic was then first in the triple jump with a mark of 36' 7".
  • Kathleen Keefe earned a second place finish in the 800 meters at 2:26.94, while Kylie Ritz did the same in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.14.
  • Ileana Chlorou had a pair of top five finishes, taking second in the 100-meter dash (12.78) and fifth in the long jump (16' 7 ¾").
  • Leia Ruvo also had two top five finishes in the the 200 meters (5th – 26.63) and the javelin throw (2nd – 102' 5"), as did Tomara Seid in the pole vault (5th – 10' 0") and the long jump (4th – 16' 8")..
  • Sarah Cooley posted personal-best throws in the shot put (5th – 39' 1") and the hammer throw (7th – 136' 0").
  • Michaela Gier (10' 6") and Dillyn Green (1:00.86) each earned a third place finish in the pole vault and 400-meter dash, respectively.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Rams will have a split squad next weekend, as Fordham will be at the Raleigh Relays from March 26-28, as well as at the Rider 5-Way Invitational on March 28th.
