Stony Brook, N.Y. – (August 31, 2019) – The Fordham cross country team opened its 2019 campaign on Saturday at the Stony Brook Season Opener, and made it a successful one, as the women placed first in the team standings, while the men were second.
On the women's side, Fordham scored 41 points, followed by Quinnipiac (51), Stony Brook (63), Sacred Heart (65), LIU Brooklyn (150), and Hunter (168).
Highlighting the individual performances, freshman
Alexandra Thomas won the 4K run in a time of 14:43.43, followed by three more Rams in the top 11.
Sydney Snow was fourth overall in 15:17.06 with
Nicoleta Papavasilakis in eighth (15:27.14) and
Taylor Mascetta in 11
th (15:35.12).
Sarah Raubenheimer was 17
th in 16:05.31 rounding out the top five scorers.

In the men's competition, Stony Brook won the team competition with 18 points, followed by Fordham (45), Quinnipiac (85), Sacred Heart (110), and Hunter (154).
Fordham had six runners in the top 16 finishers over the 6K course, led by
Brandon Hall in third place in 18:24.08, followed by
Colin Flood in eighth in 18:54.74.
Christopher Strzelinski was 12
th overall (19:01.52), followed in by
John McGovern in 13
th (19:07.48),
Nick Lundberg in 15
th (19:12.59), and
Jack Craven in 16
th (19:14.73). Other runners for the Rams included
Sean Sullivan in 26
th (19:56.06),
Dylan Serino in 32
nd (20:17.05), and
Will Whelan in 45
th (21:16.52).

th, as the team hosts the Fordham Fiasco/
