Track & Field Earns All-Academic Accolades from the USTFCCCA

Fordham’s Men’s and Women’s Teams Honored for Sixth Straight Year, while Ryan Kutch Receives Individual Honors

New Orleans, La. - The U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2019 Division I All-Academic Track & Field teams with a total of 366 men's and women's teams earning the distinction as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher. The Atlantic 10 Conference was once again well represented in the 2018-19 season with a total of 17 teams represented, which included Fordham's men's and women's teams.
 
From a conference perspective, 10 Atlantic 10 women's teams were honored, while seven Atlantic 10 men's teams honored.

Fordham was one of seven Atlantic 10 schools to have both its men's and women's team honored, joining fellow Atlantic 10 teams, Davidson, Duquesne, George Mason, La Salle, Massachusetts, and Saint Louis.  The women's team from Richmond, Rhode Island, and VCU were also honored.
 
Individually, Ryan Kutch received USTFFCCCA All-Academic accolades for the second straight year.    Combining accomplishments in the classroom and in competition during the recently completed academic year, Kutch was among a group of 583 men who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
 
Kutch holds a 3.36 GPA and majors in Finance with a concentration in Business Economics.  He was a dual event champion at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship in the 5,000 and 10,000-meter events.  It was the third time he won the outdoor 10,000 meter event.  He became the first runner in Atlantic 10 history to sweep all distance events in one season at the Atlantic 10 Championship, taking the cross country title, the indoor 3,000 and 5,000 meters, and the outdoor 5,000 and 10,000 meters.
 
Aside from his performance at the Atlantic 10 Championship, Kutch was the Metropolitan outdoor champion in the 10,000 meters, and set school records in the 5,000 and 10,000 meter events.  He also set the indoor 5,000 meter record during the course of the season.
