Stony Brook, N.Y. – (April 20, 2019) – With all the rain that hit the New York area, It took a little extra time for Stony Brook's Wolfie Invitational to get underway for the Fordham track & field team. In the end, the Rams had a solid day, finishing third in both the men's and women's competitions.
The Fordham women scored 98 points to take third, behind only Stony Brook (200) and Sacred Heart (108), while the men registered 63 points, once again behind Stony Brook (204) and Sacred Heart (108).
Highlight the day were five event wins for Fordham, three of which came from the women's side. Fordham placed first in the 4x400 relay, as
Sarinnagh Budris,
Dominique Valentine,
Gabrielle Schreib, and
Kathryn Kelly clocked in with a season-best time of 3:57.40.
Kelly continued the wins, by taking the top spot in the triple jump event with a season-best distance of 37' 10 ¾", while also scoring in the long jump (2
nd - 17' 8 ¾"), the 100 meter dash (3
rd - 12.59). She was also a part of the women's 4x100 relay with
Mary Kate Kenny, Budris, and Valentine, which took third in a season-best time of 47.80 seconds.
The last women's winner was
Sophia Jagoe-Seidl, who placed first in the javelin throw with a distance of 116' 10".

Other top performers for the women were
Bridget Alex, who took second in the 3,000 meter run (10:34.80),
Angelina Grebe (4:44.50) and
Kate McCormack (4:48.00), who were second and sixth respectively in the 1,500 meter run, and
Helen Connolly (2:19.36) and
Dana Beggins (2:19.51), who took second and third in the 800 meter run with Budris in fifth (2:20.09). The rest of the scoring came from
Mary Kate Caucci, who was second in the triple jump (32' 11 ¼).
In the men's competition, Fordham's lone individual event winner was
Kyle Mack in the 400 meter hurdles, as he took first in a season-best time of 55.42 seconds, while in the 4x400 relay of Mack,
Arthur Gooden Jr.,
Chase Krug, and
Jack Keegan won their event in a time of 3:23.43. The Rams also had a good showing in the 4x100 relay, where
Jared Benn,
Andre Guthrie, Jr. Ryan McGraw, and
Nikolas Reardon placed fifth in 43.41 seconds.
The Rams had 11 other scorers on the day, which began in the 800 meters, where
Sean Phillips (1:58.05),
Will Whelan (1:58.33), and Keegan (1:58.97) placed fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively. In the 1,500 and 3,000 meter runs, the Rams had two scorers in each event.
Brandon Hall was fourth in the 1,500 meters at 4:05.26 with
Jeremiah LaDuca in sixth at 4:06.58, while
Patrick Tuohy (9:25.20) and
Alberto Mena (9:46.00) were second and sixth, respectively in the 3,000 meter run. The last of the individual track scoring came in the 400 meter hurdles as in addition to Mack's win, Krug was fourth in 57.80 seconds.
The field event scorers were McGraw and Reardon, as McGraw was third in the long jump at 21' 2 ½", while Reardon took fourth in the triple jump at 42' 5 ¼".
The Fordham track & field team now sets their sights on the Penn Relays next weekend in Philadelphia.
