Raleigh, N.C. – (March 29, 2019) – While the majority of the Fordham track & field team gets ready for Saturday's Rider Invitational, select Rams were a part of day one of the Raleigh Relays, hosted by N.C. State.
The Rams had a fantastic day one, which featured five ECAC/IC4A qualifiers for Fordham.
The best finish of the day belonged to
Brian Cook, who finished sixth overall in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in an IC4A qualifying time of 8:56.66. Over in the women's steeplechase,
Laurel Fisher also ran well, finishing 28
th overall in an ECAC qualifying time of 10:51.20.
Fordham also had a pair of qualifiers in the 10,000 meter run. In the men's invitational of the 10,000 meters,
Ryan Kutch continued his stellar season, taking 20
th overall with a school record and IC4A qualifying time of 29:20.25. He bettered his own school record of 29:43.54, set last year. Then, in the regular division of the women's 10,000 meters,
Abigail Taylor qualified for the ECAC Championship with a time of 36:11.36, which was 17
th overall.
Laurel Fisher (5)
The final Ram to qualify for the IC4A Championship was
Christopher Strzelinski, who did so in the 1,500 meters, posting a time of 3:56.06, good for 40
th overall.
Louis Santelli was also in the 1,500 meters, running a time of 4:00.14, which was 67
th. In the women's 1,500 meters,
Katarzyna Krzyzanowski ran a time of 4:47.41 (103
rd overall).
Fordham also competed in the women's 5,000 meter, 100 meter, and 400 meter events.
Angelina Grebe placed 40
th overall in the 5,000 meters in 17:39.07, while
Aidan Moroz was 34
th in the 400 meter dash in 57.86 seconds. In the 100 meter dash,
Kathryn Kelly was 17
th in 12.26 seconds, with
Mary Kate Kenny in 46
th at 12.64 seconds.
Fordham is in one more event at the Raleigh Relays on Saturday, as Kelly and Kenny will take part in the 200 meter dash.
