Staten Island, N.Y. – (February 15, 2017) – The Fordham track & field team had its final tune-up for the Atlantic 10 Championship on Friday, as the Rams ran at the FasTrack Last Chance Invitational, hosted at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
Highlighting the day, the women's distance medley relay, comprised of
Laurel Fisher,
Sarinnagh Budris,
Aidan Moroz, and
Katarzyna Krzyzanowski, set a new Fordham school record with a time of 11:44.66, placing first overall. They broke the 2016 mark of 11:50.88, set by
Kate McCormack,
Merissa Wright,
Danielle Rowe, and
Shanna Heaney.
Fordham had four other event wins on the day, all coming on the men's side.
Nikolas Reardon won the long jump event with a season-best mark of 23' 3 ¼", bettering his IC4A qualifying mark, while
Ryan McGraw took the top spot in the triple jump at 42' 0". The other two wins were in the relays, as the 4x800 team of
Patrick Dineen,
Jeremiah LaDuca,
Kevin Dineen, and
Zalen Nelson won in a time of 7:58.96, while the distance medley crew of Patrick Tuohy,
Christopher Strzelinski,
Sean Phillips, and
Patrick Norako placed first in 10:54.74.

The Rams also had a number of season-best event performances. Besides the women's distance medley relay and Reardon's long jump mark,
Manuel Alfonso Guzman posted a season-best time of 7.02 seconds in the 60 meter dash, which tied for sixth overall, with
Jared Benn clocking in at 22.37 seconds in the 200 meter dash, good for fourth and his best time of the year.
Arthur Gooden Jr. ran 50.07 seconds in the 400 meter dash for his best time (good for 6
th) with
Kathryn Kelly having her best mark in the triple jump at 37' 2 ½", which was fourth overall. Kelly also had a fifth place finish in the long jump at 17' 9", while just missing out on an ECAC qualifying time in the 60 meter dash, as she was fourth in 7.75 seconds.
Other notable performances for the women were
Helen Connolly in the 500 meters (2
nd – 1:18.99),
Leah Hickey in the 800 meters (6
th – 2:26.47),
Peri Chase in the 60 meter hurdles (7
th – 9.74), the 4x400 relay (4
th – 4:07.03), and the 4x800 relay (3
rd – 9:37.68).
On the men's side, other notable performances were Reardon taking second in the high jump (6' 2 ¼") with
Jordan Milite finishing seventh in the 500 meters (1:09.26) and
Matthew Roma being seventh in the 3,000 meters (9:06.62).
The Rams will now head to Fairfax, Virginia, for the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship on February 23-24.
