Staten Island, N.Y. – (January 18, 2019) – The Fordham track & field team took part in the first of two meets this weekend on Friday, as the Rams were at the NYC Gotham Cup, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
The Rams had seven top ten finishes among the highlights led by the 4x800 relay teams. The men's 4x800 relay placed third in 8:12.36, while the women's team also finished third in 9:47.04.
Individually,
Nicholas Raefski had the Rams best finish as he grabbed fourth in the 3,000 meter run in 8:50.85 with
Christopher Strzelinski taking ninth in the 1,000 meter run in 2:33.92.
On the women's side,
Germaine Harbaugh and
Kathryn Kelly each finished seventh in their respective events. Harbaugh clocked in at 10:54.52 in the 3,000 meter run, while Kelly posted a distance on 17' 4" in the long jump event. The final top ten of the evening belonged to
Helen Connolly, who was tenth in the 800 meter run in 2:21.66.

Other top performers on the track for Fordham included
Sarah Daniels (17

Patrick Norako (27
th - 4:36.02) in the mile run,
Chase Krug in the 400 meters (38
th – 52.50),
Will Whelan (13

Dylan Serino (17
th - 2:37.77) in the 1,000 meters,
Jordan Milite in the 800 meters (24
th – 2:02.10),
Jared Benn (19
th – 22.68) and
Gabrielle Schreib (32
nd – 27.28) in the 200 meter dash, and
Bridget White in the 3,000 meters (11
th – 11:07.23).
In the field events,
Ryan McGraw led the way by placing 21
st in the triple jump (41' 10 ¾") and 24
th in the long jump (21' 1 ½"), while
Casey Metzler (38' 6 ¼") and
Alec Wargo (44' ½") were both 25
th in the women's and men's weight throw event, respectively.
Mary Kate Caucci was also 31
st in the triple jump (31' 4 ½") and 32
nd in the long jump (15' 5").
The Rams are right back in action on Saturday, January 19
th, when they compete in the Penn Select 8 Meet at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
