Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham track & field teams hosted the Fordham Season Opener at the Lombardi Center Field House on Friday.
Fordham had ten event winners on the day. Leading things off for the Ram women was
Mary Kate Kenny who took first in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.73 seconds.
Sarinnagh Budris finished first in the 400 meters in 59.26 seconds and
Aidan Moroz won the 800-meters in 2:17.12. In the field,
Kelley Abunaw won the long jump with a leap of 5.14m and
Nikolas Reardon won with a leap of 7.01m. Reardon also won the triple jump with a leap of 14.38m and the high jump, clearing 1.95m.
Alec Wargo won the weight throw with a throw of 15.16m. Fordham also won both 4x400 relays with the women's 'A' relaying taking first in 4:01.26 and the men winning in a time of 3:25.90.
Other top performers on the women's side were
Kathryn Kelly who finished second in the 60 meters in 7.78 seconds,
Brielle Lewis finished third in 7.95 seconds and Abunaw took fifth in 8.08 seconds. In the mile run,
Bridget White finished fourth in 5:47.54, followed by
Kieran Hanrahan (5
th – 5:51.00). In the 400 meters,
Dominique Valentine finished second in 1:00.91, followed by
Gabrielle Schreib (4
th – 1:02.20) and
Dana Beggins (5
th – 1:02.27) and
Leah Hickey took second in the 800-meters in 2:27.31. In the 200 meters Kelly finished second in 25.25 seconds and Kenny took third in 25.34 seconds.
In the field events, the Rams swept the podium in the long jump as Abunaw,
Mary Kate Caucci and
Jade Dyer-Kennedy finished first, second and third with jumps of 5.14m, 5.07m and 4.87m, respectively.
Dianna Juechter finished fifth with a jump of 4.54m. The Rams also finished top three in the triple jump as Dyer-Kennedy won with a jump of 10.33m, while Caucci finished second at 10.26m and Juechter took third at 9.27m. In the weight throw,
Adrianna Batista finished fourth at 13.17m and
Casey Metzler took eighth at 11.54m.
Other top performers for the men included,
Manuel Alfonso Guzman who finished third in the 60 meters in 7.09 seconds, followed by
Michael Capone (4
th – 7.20) and Andre Guthrie Jr. (5
th – 7.29).
Andrew Byrne finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.57 seconds and
Patrick Norako finished fourth in the mile in 4:39.67. In the 400 meters,
Arthur Gooden Jr. finished second in 50.80 seconds followed by
Jared Benn (3
rd – 51.63),
Kyle Mack (4
th – 52.06) and
Chase Krug (5
th – 52.89). In the 800 meters,
Zalen Nelson finishd second in 1:57.92,
Jeremiah LaDuca took third in 1:58.53,
Jack Keegan finished fourth in 2:00.45 and
Jordan Milite placed fifth in 2:02.36. In the 200 meters, Capone finished second in 22.97 and Guzman took third in 23.04 seconds.
In the field, following Reardon in the long jump were
Ryan McGraw (5
th – 6.32m),
Andrew Byrne (6
th – 6.20m),
Connor McKeown (7
th – 5.70m) and
Jeremy Milite (8
th – 5.62m).
Ryan McGraw finished fourth in the triple jump at 12.60m and
Connor Burke took fifth at 12.39m. In the pole vault, Burke and Byrne finished third and fifth clearing heights of 3.80m and 3.50m, respectively. The Rams also had two in the top five in the shot put as
Alec Wargo finished third at 11.88m and
John Regan took fifth at 11.01m.
The Rams return to action Friday January 11 as they host the
Brian Horowitz Invitational at the Lombardi Center Field House. Events are set to begin at 10 a.m.
