Complete ResultsThe Fordham track & field teams got its indoor season underway on Friday afternoon at the Fordham Season Opener, held at the Lombardi Center Fieldhouse on the Rose Hill campus.

The meet served as a compliance meet with dual scoring only.

Fordham had three event winners on the day, all freshmen, as
Neve Devine,
Morgan Menzzasalma, and Andre Guthrie all took home first place in their respective events. Devine won the high jump (1.62m), Menzzasalma (9.91) won the 60 meter hurdles, and Guthrie (23.49) was victorious in the 200 meter dash.

Some highlights for the Rams were Menzzasalma and fellow freshman
Mary Kate Kenny taking second and third, respectively, in the 400 meter dash, with times of 1:01.03 and 1:01.85, respectively. Sophomores Laure Jaeger and
Kylie Farrell also placed in that top 10, finishing seventh and eighth, with times of 1:03.37 and 1:03.79, respectively. In the mile,
Shanna Heaney placed third with a 5:12.42 time and was followed by four other runners –
Danielle Rowe (7
th – 5:23.08),
Kate McCormack (9
th – 5:31.40),
Laurel Fisher (10
th – 5:31.71), and
Josephine Jacob-Dolan (12
th – 5:36.47).

Freshmen
Angelina Grebe and
Kieran Hanrahan placed fourth and fifth in the 3000 meter with times of 10:39.44 and 11:05.86. The 'A' team of Menzzasalma, Rowe,
Leah Hickey, and
Merissa Wright took home bronze in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:04.43. Similarly, the men's 'A' team of Guthrie,
Jared Benn,
Michael Aman and
Eddie Dehais took third with a 3:28.62 time. Also taking third place in his event,
Fritz Heinrich's time of 4:29.04 in the mile was enough for bronze.

The Rams have a month off before the Villanova Invitational on Friday, January 8th, at the OBP Track & Field Complex on Staten Island. Events are to begin at 11 a.m.
