Cross Country Wins LIU Post Invitational

It was a great morning run for the Fordham cross country teams on Saturday at the LIU Post Invitational, as both the men's and women's teams won the team title in Brookville, N.Y.
 
On the men's side, Fordham finished first out of three Division I teams with 25 points, followed by Hofstra and Wagner.  Overall, the Rams were first out of 14 teams from all divisions.
 
The Rams, who saw a number of competitors for the first time this season, had four finishers in the top five, led by freshman Brian Cook, who won the 8K event in 24:52.01.  Fellow freshmen Nik O'Brien (25:14.41), Thomas Slattery (25:21.87), and Louis Santelli (25:32.61) were right behind him in second, third, and fifth place, respectively.
 
Other runners for Fordham were Fritz Heinrich (16^th – 26:16.59), Randall Turner (23^rd – 26:57.41), William Slattery (27^th - 27:03.07), Yehia Fahmy (31^st – 27:18.97), Peter Strom (39^th – 27:49.14), Daniel Green (42^nd – 27:57.33), Lester Taylor (43^rd – 27:57.66), and Michael Campbell (45^th – 28:04.52).
 
On the women's side, Fordham finished first out of three Division I teams with 53 points, followed by Wagner and Hofstra.  Overall, the Rams were first out of 16 teams from all divisions.
 
Fordham had three runners in the top ten, who all made their debuts for the Maroon and White.  Brynna Harum finished third overall in 18:47.30, followed by Shea Williams in fourth (18:50.50) and Stephanie Leo in sixth (19:01.42).
 
Other Fordham runners included Melanie Notarstefano in 15^th (19:35.47), Tara Cangialosi in 27^th (20:12.41), Georgeann Siller in 28^th (20:19.00), Danielle Rowe in 39^th (20:41.32), Christine Ulto in 61^st (21:32.93) and Josephine Jacob-Dolan in 64^th (21:41.36).
 
The Fordham cross country teams will next be in action on Saturday, September 20^th, as the Rams will compete at the Iona Meet of Champions, held at Van Cortlandt Park.
