USTFCCCA All-Americans Fordham senior high jumper
David Fajoyomi became the first Ram since 1996 to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Friday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, tying for 15th in the high jump final. For finishing in the top 16 he earned USTFCCCA Second Team All-American honors.
Fajoyomi would lead off the event in first position, and cleared the opening height of 6' 8 ¾" on his first attempt. Three competitors could not clear the opening height, leaving 21 competitors left for the second height of the competition.
At 6' 10 ¾", Fajoyomi needed two jumps to advance, clearing the height on his second attempt. Only one of the 21 jumpers did not clear the height, leaving 20 left in the field.
Fajoyomi however was unable to advance past the third height at 7' ½", missing on all three attempts. Seven others could not clear the height either, leaving Fajoyomi in a tie for 15
th overall with Arkansas' Ken LeGassey and Texas A&M's Devion Harris, based on total number of missed jumps.
