Amherst, Mass. (May 4, 2014) – The Fordham University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up competition at the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship today where the men placed eighth and the women tenth with both the men's and women's 4x800 relay earning second team all-conference honors.

The men's 4x800 relay of
Brian Walter,
Daniel Green,
Jonathan Annelli and
Lester Taylor placed second in a season best and IC4A qualifying time of 7:38.92, just behind La Salle (7:36.99) but ahead of Saint Joseph's and UMass.

The women's 4x800 relay was just as successful and almost took home gold as the Rams were edged by just 0.01 seconds at the line by Massachusetts, who won the race in 9:00.22, followed by the Rams at 9:00.23, two seconds ahead of Duquesne.

Rhode Island won the men's team title with 191.5 points followed by George Mason (169), Duquesne (102), VCU (97), Saint Joseph's (80), Massachusetts (68.5), La Salle (68), Fordham (42) and Saint Louis (38).

On the women's side, George Mason won the team competition with 164 points followed by Duquesne (137), VCU (110), Rhode Island (93.5), Dayton (86.5), Saint Louis (76), Massachusetts (76), Richmond (48), La Salle (28), Fordham (23) and Saint Joseph's (16).

The men's 4x800 relay joins
David Fajoyomi, who won the high jump competition on Saturday, in earning All-Atlantic 10 honors.

Also scoring for the men on day two were
Austin Ruiz, who took third in the shot put with a toss of 48' 1.75" and
Mike Turi, who placed eighth in the 5000m in a time of 14:56.46. The men's 4x400 relay also scored with an eighth place finish in 3:37.91.

Also competing for the men was
Quincy O'Connor, who placed eleventh in the 1500m (3:57.31).

Titi Fagade and
Kristen Stuart, who both qualified for the finals in their respective races on Saturday, led the Fordham women on day two. Fagade placed third in the 800m in 2:10.52 while Stuart was sixth in the 400m hurdles in 1:02.62.

Also scoring for the Fordham women was
Mara Lieberman, who finished sixth in the 1500m in a season-best time of 4:35.63.

Besides the 4x800, the Fordham women's 4x400 relay placed eighth in 3:55.44 while the 4x100 placed ninth in 49.43, both season-best times.

The Fordham outdoor track and field teams will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, as members compete at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Princeton University.
