Day one of the 2014 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship is in the books at the UMass Track & Field Complex in Amherst, Massachusetts.  It was a good first day for the Fordham Rams, who scored in six events and qualified for two of Sunday's finals.

Overall, Fordham is in fourth place after day one on the men's side with 26 points, trailing Rhode Island (77.5), Duquesne (51), and George Mason (33).  On the women's side, Fordham scored in just one event, notching two points and sits in tenth place.

Highlighting the day, senior David Fajoyomi won the high jump event to claim First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors.  He cleared 6' 8 ¾" to win the event and score 10 points.  He also finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 22' 11", while just missing the 100 meter dash final, taking tenth in 11.04 seconds.

Another big performance came from junior Jonathan Annelli, who earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, as he took second in a season-best time of 9:07.48.

Fordham also scored in the men's hammer throw and men's javelin throw, as Pat McGuire and Nicholas Regan earned points for the Rams.  McGuire was eighth in the hammer throw with a season-best distance of 129' 8", while Regan was seventh in the javelin throw with a mark of 163' 5".

The Rams final scorer on day one was on the women's side, as senior Anisa Arsenault claimed seventh in the women's 10,000 meter run in 36:32.45.  The Fordham women's did have two qualifiers for Sunday's final in Titi Fagade and Kristen Stuart.  Fagade qualified third in the 800 meter run in 2:10.73, while Stuart qualified fifth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:01.99.  Melissa Higgins just missed qualifying in the 800 meters as she was tenth in 2:12.02.
