Results While member of the Fordham track & field team were at the Penn Relays, the rest of the squad competed at the Brick City Classic, hosted by NJIT. The Rams had a good showing, winning five events, while grabbing second in eight others.
Fordham recorded three of the five event wins in the field events, led by
Pat McGuire, who won the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 129'4".
Nicholas Regan took first in the javelin throw with a distance of 171' 2", while
Austin Ruiz won the shot put with a mark of 43' 9 ¾". Ruiz also finished second in the hammer throw (124' 4") and the discus throw (131' 6" – season-best)
Fordham also won both 4x800 relay events, taking first on the women's side in 9:39.89, and the men's event in 8:15.71.
Other top performances were led by
Hailey Serrano, who took second in the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 120' 8", second in the discus throw (102' 7"), and third in the shot put (30' 9 ¼"). The women's 4x100 relay was second in a time of 54.59 seconds, with
Elise Tigani,
Christina Vivinetto,
Joe Hartnett, and
Brian Walter also earning second place finishes.
Tigani was second in the 400 meter dash in 1:00.97, while Vivinetto was runner-up in the 1,500 meters in 4:50.60. Hartnett was second in the men's 1,500 meters in 4:07.74 with Walter taking second in the 800 meter run in 1:58.90.
The Rams will now head up to Amherst, Massachusetts for the 2014 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship, which will be held May 3-4.
