Philadelphia, Pa. (April 26, 2014) – Member of the Fordham University outdoor track and field team competed at the 2014 Penn Relays today with the top performance belonging to high jumper
David Fajoyomi, who cleared seven feet, one-inch to place fourth.

Fajoyomi's jump was just ¾" shy of Barry Cantrell's school record set in 1996 and improves on his IC4A qualifying jump. Fajoyomi broke Cantrell's indoor record earlier this year with a leap of 7' 3.25" at the IC4A Championships.

Penn's Maalik Reynolds won the high jump (7' 2.25"), followed by Alexander Bowen of Albany and Avion Jones of East Carolina. Fajoyomi finished ahead of Penn State's Jon Hendershot and Auburn's DJ Smith.

The Fordham women's 4x800 relay also competed on Saturday, taking sixth in the Championships of America race presented by Independence Blue Cross. The Fordham squad of
Titi Fagade,
Kristen Stuart,
Melissa Higgins and
Mara Lieberman finished in a season-best 8:50.90, bettering their ECAC qualifying time. Villanova won the race in 8:21.49, followed by Oregon, Georgetown, Tennessee, Princeton and the Rams, who were ahead of Charlotte, Northern Illinois, Indiana and Army.

The other Fordham relay that ran on Saturday was the men's 4x800 which placed 19
th in a season-best time of 7:43.34. The Fordham entry was comprised of
Lester Taylor,
Jonathan Annelli,
Daniel Green and
Devin Rocks.

The Fordham men's and women's outdoor track and field squads will compete at the Brick City Track & Field Classic in Newark, New Jersey, on Sunday, April 28.
