For the first time this outdoor season, the Fordham track & field team split the squad, as the Rams competed at the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina and the Fred Hardy Invitational in Virginia.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, Fordham's Jonathan Annelli and Anisa Arsenault became the Rams' first ECAC/IC4A qualifiers for the outdoor season.  Annelli kicked things off in the "A" section of the 3,000 meter steeplechase, where he finished eighth in an IC4A qualifying time and career-best mark of 9:14.32.  Out of all the sections, Annelli was eighth out of 40 runners.

Then, Arsenault ran in the 10,000 meter run, placing 11th out of 34 runners in an ECAC qualifying time of 35:50.66.

While Annelli and Arsenault were in North Carolina, the rest of the squad was at the two-day Fred Hardy Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond.

There, Fordham had five top five finishes to go with two additional top ten marks.

First, Briana Tevnan won the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase in a season-best time of 11:00.89, while on the men's side, Joe Hartnett was eighth overall in the same event in a time of 9:54.85.

Next was the 5,000 meter run, where Sarah Glockenmeier earned second place with a time of 17:43.78, while Arianna Bottalico was 22nd in 20:40.19.  The men's event saw Mike Turi win the event with a time of 15:01.12, while Quincy O'Connor took fourth in 15:14.93.

In the 400 meter hurdles, both Sean Collins and Kristen Stuart finished in the top ten, as Collins was fifth in the men's event in 54.73 seconds, with Stuart taking seventh in the women's event in 1:04.23.

The final event featuring Fordham runners on day one was the 1500 meter run.  The Rams were led by Mike Belgiovine on the men's side, taking 18th in 4:02.57, while Melissa Higgins (4:46.48) and Christina Vivinetto (4:46.70) were 19th and 20th, respectively, in the women's event.

The Rams wrap up competition at the Fred Hardy Invitational on Saturday.
