New Orleans, La. - (July 25, 2013) - The U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2013 Division I All-Academic Track & Field teams with a total of 298 men's and women's teams earning the distinction as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher. The Atlantic 10 Conference led all conferences for the 2012-13 season with a total of 20 teams represented, which included Fordham's men's and women's teams.
Fordham was one of 106 schools nationally to have both its men's and women's team honored, joining fellow Atlantic 10 teams, Butler, La Salle, Massachusetts, Richmond, Saint Joseph's, Saint Louis, and Xavier. The women's team from Charlotte, Dayton, Rhode Island, and Temple were also honored.
The Fordham men's team cracked the top 10 nationally with a 3.331 GPA, ranking eighth overall, behind only Arizona (3.511), Santa Clara (3.506), Tennessee-Chattanooga (3.505), Yale (3.41), Duke (3.401), Colgate (3.38), and North Dakota (3.347). A total of 111 men's teams were honored.
The Fordham women's team was one of 187 track & field programs honored with a 3.31 GPA, which tied for 66th overall with Baylor, Colorado State, South Dakota State, Towson, Detroit-Mercy, Illinois, and Northern Iowa.
