Easton, Pa. - (March 30, 2013) - With select members of the team in North Carolina and California, the rest of the Fordham track & field team competed at the Lafayette 7-Way Meet in Easton, Pennsylvania. The Rams would finish seventh out of eight teams on the men's side, while the women were eighth out of nine squads.
In all, Fordham scored in ten events between the two competitions.
On the men's side, Fordham was led by Lester Taylor and Jonathan Annelli, who each registered a second place finish. Taylor was second in the 800 meter run in 1:56.79, while Annelli was second in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 9:34.44. Taylor was one of three scorers for the Rams in the 800 meters, as Michael Bongiorno was fifth (1:58.31) and Daniel Green was sixth (1:58.35). Annelli also had company in the scoring column with Patrick Burke placing sixth in the steeplechase (10:04.23).
Fordham also scored in the men's 400 meter dash, the 3,000 meter run, and the pole vault. John Byrne placed sixth in the 400 meter dash in 51.68 seconds with Keegan Talty tying for fourth in the pole vault, clearing 13' 9 1/4". Kevin Harvey and Quincy O'Connor both scored in the 3,000 meter run, taking third (8:39.98) and fifth (8:46.31), respectively.
Highlighting the women's competition, Mara Lieberman earned second place in the 3,000 meter run, clocking in at 10:14.96. Sarah Glockenmeier also scored in the event, placing sixth in 10:29.84.
Christina Machado and Melissa Higgins also had a strong runs in the 3,000 meter steeplechase event and the 800 meter run, respectively. Machado earned third place in 11:43.75 during the steeplechase, while Higgins was also third in the 800 meter run in 2:17.15.
Fordham also scored in the 400 meter and shot put events, as Danielle Rowe placed sixth in the 400 meters in 58.90, while Caitlin Hart was fifth in the shot put with a mark of 34' 8 ¼".
