Bronx, N.Y. - (December 6, 2013) - The Fordham track & field team hosted its lone meet of the season at the Lombardi Center Fieldhouse on Friday night, as the Rams welcomed Iona, Stony Brook, Providence, Fairleigh Dickinson, NJIT, and St. Francis (NY) for the dual scoring meet.

The Rams put together a strong opening effort with seven event wins on the night, four of which came on the women's side. Titi Fagade won the 800 meter run in 2:17.2 with Kristen Stuart (2:20.9) and Diane Bain (2:23.8) taking second and fourth right behind her.   Fagade and Stuart would later team up on the 4x400 relay with Meghan Roszyk and Danielle Rowe to win the event in a time of 4:07.1.

Fordham's other winners on the ladies' side were Averie Sheppard, who won the 60 meter hurdles in 9.0 seconds, and Hailey Serrano in the weight throw with a mark of 36' 2 ¾". Serrano also took third in the shot put with a distance of 34' ¼", while Sheppard was second in the 200 meter dash in 26.9 seconds.

Other top women's performances came from Mia Toffoli, who was seventh in the 400 meter dash (1:02.6), Melanie Notarstefano, who was seventh in the mile run (5:20.4), Emma Kilroy, who was fifth in the long jump (14' 8 ¾") and second in the triple jump (31' 6 ½"), and Caitlin Hart, who was fourth in both the weight throw (34' 6 ¾") and shot put (34' 0") events.

In the men's competition, Fordham posted event wins in the 60 meter hurdles, pole vault, and shot put events.Â
Sean Collins captured first in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.4 seconds, with
Sam Houston clearing 11' 0" to win the pole vault.Â
Austin Ruiz rounded out winners by taking home the shot put with a mark of 45' 5 ¾".Â

Ruiz also added a second place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 42' 6 ¾", while Houston was second in the long jump at 21' 8 ¼".Â
David Fajoyomi also had a strong showing in the long jump, taking third with a mark of 21' 6".

Other top performances in the men's competition were by
Ryan McGann and
Ryan Polo in the mile run, where they finished second (4:25.2) and fourth (4:25.7), respectively,
Pat McGuire, who was fourth in the weight throw (39' 1 ¼") and fifth in the shot put (38' ¾"), and
Kyle Clonan, who was fifth in the 800 meter run (2:03.2).

The Fordham track & field team is now off for winter break until the Rutgers Invitational on January 4
th.
