Williamstown, Mass. - (Sept. 22, 2012) - With half the team at Fairfield, the other half of the Fordham cross country team was at the Purple Valley Classic, hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Like earlier in the day the Fordham men's team placed fourth out of 17 teams, while the women's team was ninth out of 15 teams.
In the men's race, Williams won the team competition with a score of 39, followed by Middlebury (72), NYU (85), Fordham (96), MIT (137), and Ohio Northern (145).
Individually, it was Tufts' Ben Wallis that won the race in a time of 26:13, followed in closely by Williams' Scott Rodilitz (26:17), Middleybury's Patrick Hebble (26:20), and Fordham's Mike Turi (26:21).
Besides Turi's season-best time, Nick Synan placed 12th overall for Fordham in 26:46, while Jonathan Annelli (27:05) and Michael Belgiovine (27:05) placed 24th and 25th, respectively.
Other competitors for the Rams included Quincy O'Connor (36th 27:32), Kevin Harvey (41st - 27:42), and Joe Hartnett (62nd - 28:00).
In the women's competition, Williams won a tight race with 78 points, compared to 83 for MIT and 87 for Middlebury. Fordham was ninth with 254 points.
Individually, Middlebury's Addie Tousley won individual honors, crossing the finish line in 21:50, followed by Keri Lambert of Amherst in 21:55. Fordham's Anisa Arsenault performed well, taking seventh in a career-best time of 22:46 over the 6K course, while Suzy Sikorski was 37th in 23:30.
Other competitors for Fordham included Mara Lieberman (75th - 24:21), Sarah Glockenmeier (91st - 24:36), Melanie Notarstefano (106th - 24:53), Kerry Sorenson (114th - 25:01), and Christina Vivinetto (118th - 25:04).
The Fordham cross country team will next be in action on Friday, October 5th, as the team competes in the 2012 Metropolitan Championship, held at Van Cortlandt Park.
