Raleigh, N.C. - (March 31, 2012) - The Fordham track & field team wrapped up the first part of their split squad meets on Saturday, as the Rams finished competition at the 2012 Raleigh Relays in North Carolina. Fordham competed in seven events on Saturday, and posted four more ECAC/IC4A qualifying times.
Fordham's effort was highlighted by senior Kevin Fitzgerald, who took second in the 800 meter run invitational in an IC4A qualifying time of 1:51.33. John Cosgrove also had a strong run in the event, taking 11th in 1:53.13.
In the 400 meter hurdles, Sean Collins qualified for the IC4A Championship, as he placed 14th in a qualifying time of 53.64 seconds. In the women's competition, Kristen Stuart finished in the top 10, as she took ninth in 1:03.26, followed by Melissa Higgins in 18th (1:04.43) and Averie Sheppard in 42nd (1:08.37).
The final individual competitor was Blair Hassell, who took 12th in the javelin throw with a distance of 119' 9"
In the relays, the men's 4x800 relay team qualified for the IC4A Championship, as the group took third in 7:38.09, while the women's 4x400 relay qualified for the ECAC Championship by placing 13th in 3:50.30. The final relay was the men's 4x400 relay that took 14th in 3:18.94.
The Fordham track & Field team will next be in action on April 6-7, when the team competes at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Virginia.
