Raleigh, N.C. - (March 30, 2012) - The Fordham track & field team has a split crew this weekend, as part of the team is at N.C. State for the 2012 Raleigh Relays, while the other part will be at Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday. On day one of the Raleigh Relays, Fordham had a strong day, posting three ECAC/IC4A qualifiers.
Sophomore David Fajoyomi was the IC4A first qualifier, as he placed second in the men's high jump, clearing 7' 1/2". That height ranks him tied for seventh in the nation at this point in the season.
Joining him was Ryan Polo, who placed seventh in Section II of the men's 1500 meter run in an IC4A qualifying time of 3:49.83, as well as Anisa Arsenault, who placed 11th in the women's 10,000 meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 36:19.48.
Fordham also had competitors in six other events on day one.
In the men's 1500 meter run for Section V-VIII, Brian Riley took second in 3:55.79, while Kevin Harvey was 10th in 4:00.08. Sean Collins just missed an IC4A qualifying time in the 110 meter hurdles, placing 22nd in 14.99 seconds.
The 400 meter dash had four men's entries, led by Sean Atkinson, who was 26th in 48.64 seconds, and Nick Delligatti, who placed 65th in 50.36 seconds.
On the women's side on the 400 meter dash, Titi Fagade was the top runner in 27th place in 56.70 seconds, followed by Kristen Stuart in 42nd (57.94), Kelly Connolly in 48th (58.55), and Elisabeth Warren in 55th (58.96). Warren also competed in the Section I Long Jump, finishing 21st with a mark of 16' 8".
The final event with competitors for the Rams was the women's 110 meter hurdles, where Averie Sheppard was 43rd overall in 15.85 seconds.
Day two of the Raleigh Relays will begin at 10:00 AM.
