Another Banner Day for Track & Field Sees Third School Record of the Week Falls

Valentine's Day Classic Results

New York, N.Y./Boston, Mass. - (Feb. 11, 2012) - The Fordham track & field team's record book had another change to it on Saturday, as the team was split between the Valentine's Day Classic, where nine men were competing in individual events, while the men's and women's 4x400 relay teams were at the prestigious Millrose Games.

The highlight of both competitions was that women's 4x400 relay at the Millrose Games, as Titi Fagade, Averie Sheppard, Elisabeth Warren, and Kelly Connolly finished fourth in the Metropolitan 4x400 relay in a school record time of 3:49.05, wiping away the previous school record mark by over four seconds. The new record time also qualified the team for the ECAC Championship.

The previous school record was 3:53.14 set by Diana Nordquist, Maureen Zivic, Kristina Knapp, and Kerstin Greene in 2006.

In addition to the women's success, the men's 4x400 relay at the Millrose Games took third, as Sean Collins, Sam Houston, Nick Delligatti, and Sean Atkinson tied their season-best time at 3:18.07.

Meanwhile, at the Valentine's Day Classic in Boston, Fordham had nine individuals in competition, led by the trio of John Cosgrove, Michael Rossi, and Kevin Fitzgerald.

Cosgrove and Rossi both qualified for the IC4A Championship in the 500 meter run, as Cosgrove finished second in a career-best time of 1:04.65, while Rossi was tenth in a career-best time of 1:05.15.

Fitzgerald ran the mile in exquisite fashion, as he bettered his IC4A qualifying time to a career-best 4:05.17, which was good for 18th overall. Fordham had four other runners in the mile, with all of them registering the best time of their career.

Ryan Polo finished 54th overall in 4:15.32 with Kevin Harvey right behind him in 56th place in 4:15.61. Jonathan Annelli was 63rd overall in 4:16.67, while Brian Riley rounded out the group in 67th place in 4:17.10.

The Rams' final event of the day was the 1000 meters where Daniel Green placed 29th in 2:31.88, while Sam Stuart was 34th in 2:32.32.

The Fordham track & field teams will next be in action on February 17th-18th, as the Rams travel to Mackal Fieldhouse in Kingston, Rhode Island, for the 2012 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championships.
