Queens, N.Y. - (Oct. 14, 2007) - The Fordham University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the St. John's Fall Festival with each team taking home a team title at Cunningham Park in Queens.
Brigid Moriarty led the women's squad, finishing second overall, covering the 4K course in a time of 14:26, 16 seconds behind the winner, Tyneka Greene of St. John's.
On the men's side, Fordham's Matt Lowenthal took third overall, running the 5K course in 16:16, behind NYIT's Evans Kigen and Christopher Croff of Southern Connecticut State.
Also scoring for the women were Melissa Salerno, who placed third in a time of 14:30, while Kerri Gallagher took fourth in a time of 14:54. Susanne Hansen was the fourth Fordham finisher, placing ninth in 15:17, followed by Kristin Pezzuti, who took tenth in 15:20.
Other runners competing for the Fordham women were Emily Pezzuti (11th - 15:25), Kelsey Komich (14th- 15:34), Bridget Carroll (16th - 15:40), Catalina Hallock (17th - 15:42), Jena Trenk (23rd - 16:00), Vanessa Spoto (28th - 16:16), Daniella Hess (39th - 17:39) and Madelyn Weingart (43rd -19:02).
Other men scoring for the Rams included Tom Finnerty, who placed sixth in 16:35, and Justin Kopunek, who placed ninth in 16:42. Matt Flynn was the fourth Fordham finisher, taking tenth in 16:43, and Patrick McDonough was the final scorer for the Rams, taking 12th in 16:53.
Other men competing for the Rams were Casey Barrett (13th - 16:55), Tim Burke (15th - 17:08), Brian Horowitz (17th - 17:18), Tom Papain (18th - 17:19), John Korevec (21st - 17:23), Andrew Spanos (23rd - 17:30), Paul Szczepaniak (25th - 17:36), Thomas Kelly (26th - 17:45), Brendan Banks (29th - 17:57), Andrew Gorman (30th - 18:17), Erik Lawrence (31st - 18:18), Michael Walsh (32nd - 18:22), Colin Chudzik (36th - 18:46), Chris Granucci (39th - 19:02) and Sean Cournoyer (40th - 19:05).
The Fordham cross country teams will next be in action on October 27th as they travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to participate in the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championships at Belmont Plateau beginning at 10:00 AM.
