Boston, Mass./Staten Island, N.Y. – (February 7, 2026) – The Fordham track & field team had a busy Saturday, competing in two different meets, as some Rams were in Boston for the 2026 ECAC/IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championships at the BU Track & Tennis Center, while another group was at the Big Apple Invitational, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
No team scores were kept at the Big Apple Invitational, while after day one of the ECAC/IC4A Championship, the Fordham women are ninth, while the men are 18
th.
BIG APPLE INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Highlighting the day on Staten Island were Fordham pole vaulters Michaela Gier and Michael Croke. Gier won the women's event, clearing a school record height of 11' 9 ¾", while Croke won the men's event, clearing a season-best 15' 1".
- In the high jump, Katelin Cruikshank tied for third in the women's high jump, clearing 5' 1", while Marcelino Hernandez-Peng tied for fourth in the men's high jump with a height of 6' ¾".
- Luke Cramer had a pair of top five finishes, taking third in the triple jump (43' 11 ¼") and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.97).
- Sophia Oliva was the top Ram in the women's mile run, placing fifth in 5:10.97.
- C.J. Weddington was 11th in the men's 60-meter dash in his season debut at 7.08 seconds.
- Anan Bauman and Jake Frayler finished tenth (2:00.77) and 11th (2:01.33), respectively in the men's 800-meter run.
ECAC/IC4A CHAMPIONSHIP – DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Fordham scored in three women's events and one men's event on day one, while also having one Sunday final qualifier.
- For the women, Zoe Arakelian earned the silver medal in the women's high jump, scoring second with a season-best jump of 5' 6", while Leia Ruvo took silver in the women's pentathlon with a score of 3,588 points. In the pentathlon events, Ruvo won the long jump (18' 1 ¾") and 800 meters (2:26.27), while being second in the high jump (5' 4 ¼"), sixth in the shot put (32' 6 ¼"), and seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.32).
- Fabianna Szorenyi was the last women's scorer, taking eighth in the 5,000 meters in 17:41.38, while in the men's event, Jack Boerger scored eighth in 14:49.90.
- Additionally, Sam Freeman qualified for the Sunday final in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 21.68 seconds, while also finishing ninth in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 48.60 seconds.
- Fordham is also poised to score in the men's heptathlon, as through four events, George Pomer is fifth with 2,338 points.Thus far, Pomer was second in the high jump (6' 1 ½"), fourth in the shot put (34' 9 ¾"), and fifth in the 60-meter dash (7.71) and long jump (18' 1").
