Men’s Track & Field in Seventh at A-10 Championship

Rams Score in Three Events on Day One & Qualify for Four Sunday Finals

Fairfax, Va. – (May 3, 2025) – The Fordham men's track & field team sits in seventh place at the 2025 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship, which is being held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

Five events and all preliminaries were completed on day one before a weather delay prevented the 10,000-meter event from being held.

Fordham scored seven points on day one over the course of three events.  The Rams started the scoring in the pole vault with Michael Croke clearing a career-best 14' 11" to score seventh, tying the school record set by Ryan Riviere in 2017.  Then in the javelin throw, James Alati placed sixth with a throw of 180' 4", while in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Matthew Mason finished seventh in a season-best time of 9:08.62.

In addition to scoring in three events, Fordham qualified for four Sunday finals, while also being in position to score in the decathlon.

The first preliminary event was the 1,500 meters, where three Rams qualified for the final.  Rodolfo Sanchez qualified second overall in 3:51.57, while Nathan Bezuneh (3:58.33) and Sean Reidy (3:59.15) also made the final.

Njam Abdul-Latif followed by making the finals in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.  First, he ran 10.47 seconds in the 100-meter dash, qualifying second and breaking the school record of 10.54, set by Joe Lampkin in 2000, while he qualified third in the 200 meters at 21.32 seconds.

The last Sunday qualifier was Ben Borchers in the 800-meter run, posting the fifth-best time at 1:52.55.

The Rams just missed having a Ram in the 400-meter dash final, as Sam Freeman was ninth overall in 48.33 seconds.

Lastly, George Pomer sits in eighth place at the halfway point of the decathlon with 3,145 points.  Thus far, he was second in the high jump (6' 4"), seventh in the shot put (35' ½"), eighth in the 400-meter dash (52.99), and ninth in both the 100-meter dash (12.15) and long jump (19' 6").

The Championship concludes on Sunday, starting at 9:00 AM.
