Hampton, Va. – (February 22, 2025) – The 2025 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship has come to a close at the Hampton Aquaplex in Virginia.
The Fordham women maintained their fourth place standing out of 11 teams with 339 points.
The night of finals started off with the 1650 freestyle, as
Emilie Krog and
Daisy Mitchell scored for the Rams. Krog placed eighth overall in a season-best time of 16:59.37, while Mitchell was 15
th in 17:16.36.
Next up was the 200 backstroke, where
Leire Martin qualified for the championship final. She scored fifth overall with a season-best time of 1:57.82.
Then came the highlight of the evening in the 200 breaststroke, as
Ainhoa Martin defended her title with an NCAA "B" cut and winning time of 2:11.55. She became only the second Ram to repeat as Atlantic 10 champion in two different events (400 IM & 200 breaststroke), joining Megan Polaha (200 butterfly - 2016 & 2017; 200 IM – 2015 & 2016).
Jessica Zebrowski was the next finalist for Fordham in the 200 butterfly event, posting the top qualifying time in the preliminaries at 1:59.44. She then posted a fifth place time of 2:01.17.
Fordham also has a number of competitors in the 100 freestyle event with
Mackenzie Fischer posting the best time at 52.40 seconds, which was 31
st overall.
In the final event of the championship, the Rams' 400 freestyle relay team of L. Martin, Fischer,
Hope Nolan, and
Ainhoa Martin finished tenth in a time of 3:26.55.
