Track & Field Takes Part in West Point Tune-Up

Michaela Gier Wins Pole Vault, while George Pomer Places Fourth in 60-Meter Hurdles

West Point, N.Y. – (February 22, 2025) – Select members of the Fordham track & field team got in one final set of preparation for next week's Atlantic 10 Championship at Saturday's West Point Tune-Up at the U.S. Military Academy.
 
Michaela Gier won the women's pole vault in a jump-off, clearing 11' 1 3/4", and tying her own school record.
 
In the men's pole vault, Michael Croke was fifth and Miguel Negrete in sixth, as both athletes cleared 12' 5 ½".  George Pomer took tenth in the event, clearing 10' 6".
 
Negrete also finished in the top ten in the men's long jump, placing ninth with a mark of 19' 6 ¼".
 
The last event for the Rams was the men's 60-meter hurdles, where Pomer made the final, taking fourth in 8.80 seconds, while Negrete was tenth at 9.40 seconds.
 
The Rams now set their sights on the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship, which will be held February 28 through March 1 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
