Bronx, N.Y. – (September 7, 2024) – The Fordham cross country teams played host to the annual Fordham Fiasco at Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday morning. The Rams ended up second in the men's standings, while the women were third.
The men's race was up first with Manhattan winning the team title with 29 points, followed by Fordham (37) and Columbia (54).
Though the Rams came up short in the team standings, Fordham's
Jack Boerger paced the field, winning the individual crown in a time of 27:19.5, finishing almost 45 seconds ahead of runner-up Jaxon Newton of Manhattan (28:04.8). He is only the third Fordham runner to win the individual title at the Fordham Fiasco, joining Jonathan Annelli (2015) and Brian Cook (2016).
Matthew McCabe was also in the top five, taking fourth overall in 28:28.5, while
Anan Bauman took eighth place in 28:57.7.
Tadael Mihret (11
th – 29:27.8) and
Matthew McDevitt (13
th – 29:40) rounded out the Ram runners on Saturday.
The women's competition also went Manhattan's way with a team score of 32 points, with Columbia in second (42) and Fordham in third (47).
Manhattan's Mikaella Martin was the individual winner with a time of 19:22.0, followed by Fordham's
Sophia Oliva in second at 19:36.60.
Lauren Raimy grabbed fourth place in 20:14.0 with
Madison Collins in 11
th at 21:40.1. Rounding out the Rams' competitors were
Marisa House (14
th – 22:15.0),
Kathleen Keefe (16
th – 22:28.1), and
Ciara McGroary (18
th – 22:44.4).
The Rams will next be in action on Saturday, September 14
th, for the Jasper Fall XC Invite, hosted by Manhattan in Montgomery, N.Y. at Twin Ponds on the Farm.
