Bronx, N.Y. – (August 6, 2024) – With students set to return later this month, Fordham swimming & diving head coach
Tom Wilkens has announced the addition of eight newcomers for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Joining the Rams will be
Java Marvarov (Muscat, Oman/International School of Chouiefat Muscat (Kenyon)),
Mackenzie Fischer (Ochard Park, N.Y./Ochard Park (SUNY Geneseo),
Daniel Ribeiro (São Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Tecnico Opcao (Carson-Newman)),
Logan Binder (Burbank, Calif./Harvard-Westlake),
Allison Kim (Centreville, Va./Centreville),
Nick Lungaretti (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon),
Daisy Mitchell (Sherman Oaks, Calif./Notre Dame), and
Will Rupp (Rye, N.Y./Rye).
Marvarov is a graduate transfer from Kenyon College and rejoins his former teammate
Noah Althoff on the Rams' squad. A 2023 CSCAA Scholar All-America and member of the Dean's List, he swam three seasons at Kenyon, helping them to back-to-back North Coast Athletics Conference Championships in 2023 and 2024. He took bronze in the 100 IM at the 2024 NCAC Championship, while being seventh in the 100 breaststroke and tenth in the 200 IM. In 2023, he finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke and seventh in the 200 breaststroke at the NCAC Championship. Prior to Kenyon, Marvarov swam club for Nautilus Swimming Club in Oman, winning multiple Middle East Championships and competed at the FINA World Cup in 2019.
An Orchard Park, New York native, Fischer is a graduate transfer from SUNY Geneseo, where she helped the team to four straight SUNYAC Championships. In 2024, she was First Team All-SUNYAC in the 100 breaststroke, 200 IM, the 200 and 400 freestyle relay, and the 200 medley relay, which set a conference record. She then competed at the NCAA Division III Championship in the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays. She ended her career with school records in the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay. Prior to her time at SUNY Geneseo, Fischer was a two-year captain at Orchard Park High School and swam club for TWST Swimming, where she was an NCSA Junior Nationals, Speedo, and Niagara Zone Team qualifier. In the classroom, she was a member of the National Honor Society.
Ribeiro is a multi-event athlete from São Paulo, Brazil, competing in the backstroke, individual medley, and butterfly events and attended Colegio Tecnico Opcao. He swam club for SESI São Paulo, where he was a three-time Brazilian National Medalist (2016, 2018, and 2022), while earning multiple State and Regional Championship titles from 2013 to 2022. He participated in the International Trofeu Chico Piscina Championship twice and set the 4x100 freestyle relay record. Most recently, Ribeiro spent one season at Carson-Newman University, where he qualified for the NCAA Division II Championship in the 50-yard backstroke and earned Honorable Mention All-America in the 400 medley and freestyle relays.
Binder is a middle distance freestyler from Burbank, California, where she attended Harvard-Westlake School. She served as co-captain of the varsity team as a senior and medaled individually in the Mission League finals for the 200 and 500 freestyle four times. She competed in CIF division II as a freshman and CIF Division I for the remainder of her career, competing in the 500 freestyle as a senior. Binder was selected to attend the Easterns Prep School Swimming & Diving Championships twice, contributing to the Harvard-Westlake girls placing fourth out of 50 teams in 2022. For club swimming, Binder is a part of the Los Angeles Swim Club, attending meets such as Age Group Championships, Junior Olympics, and Western Zones. She qualified for Southern Sectionals in 2022 and helped found the Los Angeles Swim Club Mentorship Program - Big Fish Little Fish. The program was created to help establish meaningful connections with younger and older swimmers on the team, guide younger swimmers to individual achievements, and allow older swimmers to learn leadership skills. Academically, she earned a spot on the Harvard-Westlake Honor Roll for all four years and was a member of the World Language National Honors Society for Spanish.
A native of Centreville, Virginia, Kim competed in the sprint freestyle events at Centreville High School. A senior year team captain and the team's high point swimmer, she was a First Team All-District and All-Region performer for the 2023-24 season and finished as the State Championship runner-up in the 50 freestyle event. She was Second Team All-District for the 2022-23 year and overall qualified for the VHSL Class 6 State Championship in each of her last three seasons of high school. For club, Kim has swam for National Capital Swim Club and the Faircrest Cyclones, competing at USA Swimming Futures, NCSA Juniors, Super Sectionals and Speedo Sectionals. Academically, she was a member of the National Honors Society at Centreville and was a 2022-23 Potomac Valley Swimming Scholar Athlete.
Lungarelli is a breaststroker, who swam at Horizon High School in Arizona. He served as a senior year team captain and was the team's Most Outstanding Swimmer in three of his four seasons. As a junior, he was given the Husky Hustle Award at Horizon. Lungarelli was also a part of Jewish Swim Club and JForce National Team for club swimming. He posted Junior, Future, and Sectional qualifiers and won the 100-yard breaststroke at the Arizona 2024 LC Senior State Championship. In the classroom, he was a member of the National Honor Society and was a Scholastic All-America.
Mitchell is a distance freestyler from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, where she was a two-year captain and was awarded the team's Most Outstanding Swimmer and Best Distance Swimmer Awards. She set school records in the 200 and 500 freestyle, as well as being a part of the school record 200 medley relay. Like Binder, she also swam club for the Los Angeles Swim Club. In the classroom, Mitchell graduated Maxima Cum Laude from Notre Dame, was a three-time Athletic Scholar Award recipient, and received the CIF award.
Rupp is a freestyler from Rye, New York, where he attended Rye High School. He competed in club swimming for the Badger Swim Club in Larchmont, N.Y., where he was a USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals qualifier and a multi-time TYR Senior Metropolitan Championship medalist. A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, Rupp was a member of the National Honor Society and the High Honor Roll at Rye High School.
