Bronx, N.Y. – (April 9, 2024) – The College Squash Association handed out its Scholar Athlete Awards for the 2023-24 season, which saw four Fordham Rams among the honorees.
They were senior
Nicholas Choo (West Hartford, Conn.) and juniors
Edwin Hess (Houston, Texas),
Aarav Jhunjhunwala (Mumbai, India), and
Crispin McCarthy (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
To be selected, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior with a 3.5 GPA or higher and exemplify the ideals of excellence and balance that college squash seeks to uphold.
Choo, a Finance major, had another quality season for the Rams, posting a 14-6 record, playing form the fifth through ninth positions on the ladder. He was primarily the Rams' #8 player, recording nine wins in the slot. In three full seasons at Fordham, Choo has 39 career victories.
Hess, a Finance major, found his way into seven matches this season, recording a 4-3 mark. He was 3-3 in the ninth slot, while recording one victory at the seventh slot.
Jhunjhunwala, an Interdisciplinary Mathematics & Economics major with a minor in Business Administration, returned to the team in the spring semester to appear in five matches, recording an eighth slot win for his lone victory.
McCarthy, an Accounting major, just wrapped up his first season with the Rams after transferring from Clark University. He had an immediate impact, recording a 13-7 mark with most of those matches in the bottom third of the ladder. He played as high as fourth position this season all the way to ninth.
The quartet helped the Rams to a team record of 21-9 this season, marking the Rams' fifth 20-win season in the last six campaigns.
