Princeton, N.J. – (April 13, 2024) – Competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University, came to a close on Saturday with the Fordham track & field posting five season-best performances.
The day began with the 4x100 relay, where Fordham's women's team of
Dillyn Green,
Skylar Harris, Carolina Fallona, and
Anna Maria Ivits placed seventh in 49.21 seconds, while the men's team of
Liam Volz,
Matthew Nurse,
Dakota Strain, and
Jabril Carter also took seventh in 42.52 seconds.
A number of the Rams' relay members also ran in the 100- and 200-meter dash events. In the women's 100-meter dash, Harris was 11
th overall at 12.37 seconds, followed by Green in 21
st (12.51) and Fallona in 40
th (13.14). Then in the women's 200 meters, Green recorded a season-best time of 25.20 seconds, good for 14
th with
Michele Daye in 21
st at 25.64 seconds. Daye also ran the 400-meter dash, where she posted a season-best time of 58.77 seconds.
In the men's 200-meter dash, Strain was 27
th overall in 22.28 seconds with Nurse taking 40
th (22.65). Then in the 400 meters,
Sam Freeman grabbed 26
th overall at 49.98 seconds, followed by Nurse in 27
th (50.01) and
Kevin Callaghan in 30
th (50.35).
The 800-meter run was the highlight of the day for the men, as
Colin Flood won the event in 1:54.48 with Rodolfo Snachez in second (1:55.42),
Trevor Rinn in sixth (1:56.02), and
John Corrigan in 11
th (1:56.89). On the women's side,
Brenna Sears was the top performers in 11
th place at 2:17.67, followed by
Megan McCann in 23
rd (2:21.44), and
Alexandra Thomas in 27
th (2:27.17).
Nex in the hurdles,
Kylie Ritz and
Nicole Lytle took prt in both the 100- and 400-meter events. Ritz posted a season-best time of 1:06.05 in the 400-meter hurdles, good for ninth, while Lytle was 11
th (1:06.96). Then in the 100-meter event, Lytle (15.29) and Ritz (15.31) were 11
th and 12
th, respectively.
The last track event for the Rams was the women's 1,500 meters, where
Clodagh McGroary was 29
th in 5:01.10 with
Marin Bogulski in 33
rd (5:07.53).
Over in the field events, the Rams had competitors in both the men's and women's high jump events, starting with
DaRon Elam grabbing seventh in the men's event, clearing a season-best height of 6' 4 ¾". For the women,
Leia Ruvo was sixth at 5' 2 ¼", while
Zoe Arakelian (7
th) and
Lexi Fujita (T9th) also cleared the same height.
Ruvo also took part in the triple jump, posting a season-best mark of 37' 1 ¼", good for tenth place with
Alexandra Manetovic in 11
th at 36' 8 ½".
The Fordham track & field team will next be in action on Saturday, April 20
th as the Rams take part in the Mark Young Invitational, hosted by Yale University.
