Lewisburg, Pa. – (November 22, 2024) – The Fordham swimming & diving team began its three-day stay at the Bucknell Invitational on Friday in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. After day one, the Fordham women are fourth out of seven teams with 276 points, while the men are fifth out of six teams with 265.5 points.
The night of finals started with the 200 freestyle relay, where the women's team of
Jessica Zebrowski,
Emma Shaughnessy,
Zoei Howard, and
Allison Kim were fifth in 1:34.17, while the men's team of
Daniel Ribeiro,
Christian Taylor,
Noah Althoff, and Alex Shah took second in 1:19.50.
The next event was the 500 freestyle, which saw four Rams score.
Emilie Krog placed fourth overall in a season-best time of 4:53.49, with
Daisy Mitchell scoring 21
st overall in 5:03.15. On the men's side,
Dylan Champagne was the top finisher in 13
th place at 4:36.11 with
Frankie Sanger in 16
th at 4:38.57.
In the 200 individual medley, Fordham's
Ainhoa Martin won the women's event in a season-best time of 1:59.50, followed by
Leire Martin in third (2:02.01) and
Tera Brilmyer in 21
st (2:07.96). The men's final saw Ribeiro (1:48.61) and Althoff (1:49.47) grab second and fourth overall, respectively, while
Daniel Langlois was 11
th (1:51.76) and
Java Marvarov tied for 19
th (1:53.19).
The 50 freestyle saw seven total finalists for the Rams. For the women, Zebrowski grabbed third in 23.09 seconds with Kim in 13
th (23.73) and Howard in 20
th (24.07). Then on the men's side, Taylor was third in 20.14 seconds with a trio of scorers in the "B" final in Shah (11
th – 20.60),
David Topi (12
th – 20.65), and
Vitalis Onu (15
th – 20.74).
In the diving well,
Marco Petit scored 16
th in the men's three-meter dive with a score of 179.30, while five Rams scored in the women's one-meter dive.
Cai Flowers had the top placement in seventh (234.80), followed by
Mya Bokerman (13th - 213.45),
Molly Farrell (15th - 208.25),
Mya Sharkey (20th - 196.00), and
Maia Cacchione (24
th – 187.10).
The final event of day one was the 400 medley relay, where Fordham's group of L. Martin, Shaughnessy, A. Martin, and Zebrowski were second in the women's event at 3:41.54, while the men's team od Taylor, Topi, Ribeiro, and Shah were fourth in 3:17.27.
Day two of the Bucknell Invitational begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday with preliminary trials with finals at 6:00 PM.
