Bronx, N.Y. – (October 19, 2024) – The Fordham swimming & diving team hosted NYU on Saturday morning at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center and came up on the wrong side, as the Rams were swept by the Violets, 176-124 on the women's side and 183.5-114.5 for the men.
On the women's side, Fordham placed first in six events, led by
Mya Bokerman and
Ainhoa Martin. Bokerman took first in both diving events, scoring 274.20 on the one-meter board and 284.25 on the three-meter board, while Martin placed first in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.77) and the 200 IM (2:05.37).
Leire Martin also won the 100 backstroke in 58.25 seconds, while the 200 medley relay of L. Martin, A. Martin,
Jessica Zebrowski, and
Allison Kim grabbed the top spot in 1:46.89.
The Fordham men also won six events on Saturday, highlighted by wins in both relay events. The 200 medley relay team of
Daniel Ribeiro,
Noah Althoff,
Christian Taylor, and
Alexander Shah posted a top time of 1:31.42, while Taylor,
Vitalis Onu, Shah, and Althoff won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:04.28.
Althoff, Taylor, Ribeiro and Onu also won one individual event each. Althoff grabbed the 200 freestyle in 1:41.35 with Taylor taking the 100 backstroke in 50.49 seconds. Ribeiro placed first in the 100 freestyle at 46.23 seconds, while Onu registered the top time in the 100 butterfly in 51.27 seconds.
Fordham will next be in action on Saturday, November 2
nd, when the Rams head to Columbia for an 11:00 AM scrimmage meet.
