NEWPORT NEWS, VA. - A 3-0 start to the 2023 season has already brought one award back to the Rose Hill Gym for Fordham University volleyball and today brought a second accolade for the Rams as Mallory Lipski was named the A10 Defensive Player of the Week.
Lipski claims the award following an opening weekend that saw Fordham sweep its three matches to win UNCW Holiday Inn University Invitational. Across the trio of games, the graduate libero would tally a combined 70 digs across 12 sets of work, beginning with a dozen digs in a straight-set win over UNCW to open the season.
She would follow that with a stellar performance on day two, as the Rams claimed two victories on the day over both Presbyterian and Stetson. In the morning half, Lipski would register 22 digs in addition to five assists and a service ace on the offensive side, before notching a career-high 36 digs in a five-set thriller later in the day, to go along with an additional five helpers.
Lipski and Fordham volleyball are back in action this weekend as they head to Columbia for the Big Apple Tournament. The Rams will take on the host Lions Friday night at 7:00 p.m. before taking on Quinnipiac the next day at 2:30 p.m.
