RICHMOND, VA --The Fordham volleyball team won the first set, but couldn't hang on and lost in four sets (25-22, 22-25, 20-25, 14-25) to the VCU Rams Sunday on the road at Stuart C Siegel Center.
The loss dropped Fordham's record to 9-19 overall and 3-15 in Atlantic 10 play. After breaking the previous program record of 290 set in 2005 with 13 blocks yesterday, the Rams posted 10 blocks as a team this afternoon, to end the season with 306 total blocks. This season the Rams tallied 17 games with 10 or more blocks, and broke the total blocks record in 15 fewer sets than the 2005 Rams did as well with 104 played this season.
The Rams were led by a double-double from Zoe Talabong, who registered 12 kills and 16 digs on the day. Erynn Sweeney also added nine kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Sweeney chipped in for with 15 digs to go with six blocks from Tatum Holderied.

SET 1 | The Rams opened up an early one set to none lead, winning the first set 25-22. Fordham never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 16-15 in a set that showcased four lead changes before the Rams took over in the second half of the stanza. Fordham also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked five VCU attacks in the stanza.
SET 2 | Fordham then fell in set two 25-22, tying the match at a set apiece. The Rams couldn't endure a ferocious VCU rally in the second set, losing after leading by seven points at 17-10 earlier in the set.
SET 3 | A third-set loss put Fordham down 2-1. The Rams lost the set 25-20 despite a solid showing on the attacking side. Fordham registered a .320 attack percentage with 12 kills in the set loss.
SET 4 | Fordham lost the fourth set and the match, falling 25-14. The Rams trailed by as many as 12 points as VCU grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 and Fordham wasn't able to recover in a set that was knotted up two times before the Rams took over.
