Atlantic 10 Release
Bronx, N.Y. – Following one of the greatest seasons in program history, the success of the 2022-2023 Fordham University women's tennis was recognized by the Atlantic 10 Conference as graduate student
Valeriya Deminova was named the 2023 Atlantic 10 Co-Most Outstanding Performer while head coach
Michael Sowter was named the conference's Coach of the Year.
Joining Deminova in earning First Team All-Atlantic 10 were senior
Avery Aude, graduate student
Lindsay Hung, and junior
Eleni Fasoula, while graduate student
Carlota Casasampere Escoda was named to the Second Team as well as Academic All-Atlantic 10. The five all-conference selections are the most ever for the Rams.
Sowter, the 2023 Iron Major Award winner as Fordham's Coach of the Year, led the Rams to their first ever Atlantic 10 title with a 4-1 win over VCU in the championship match. With the A-10 title, Fordham received an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, the Rams' first ever appearance at the national tournament.
In just his second season as the women's head coach, Sowter's led Fordham to its second straight 14-win season and battled nationally-ranked Yale and Brown before falling to each 4-3. He is the first Fordham tennis coach to garner Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year honors.

Valeriya Deminova (Gr., Moscow, Russia High School No. 2123)
- Went 13-8 in singles play, 9-5 at first singles.
- Spring singles record of 9-3, all at #1, including wins over nationally ranked Brown and Yale.
- Spring doubles record of 13-3.
- Was 2-0 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles action at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
- Defeated opponents from Army, Columbia and Princeton to qualify for the ITA Division I Women's Northeast Super Regional Championship.
- Two-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 and Fordham Women's Tennis MVP
First Team All-Atlantic 10
Avery Aude (Sr., Woodland Hills, Calif. Notre Dame)
- Went 15-7 in singles play, 10-2 at fourth singles.
- 15 singles wins tied for second on the squad.
- Was 16-5 in doubles action, 13-3 at first doubles.
- 16 doubles win tied for team high.
- Was 2-0 in singles play, including a 6-2, 6-4 win over VCU's Gabriela Davidescu,and 3-0 in doubles action at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
Lindsay Hung (Gr., San Clemente, Calif. San Clemente (Utah)
- Went 14-12 in singles play, 6-5 at second singles.
- 14 singles wins was third best on the squad.
- Had eleven doubles wins.
- 16 doubles win were third most on the team.
- Was 1-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles action at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
Eleni Fasoula (Jr., Athens, Greece Pierce-The American College of Greece)
- Went 15-13 in singles play, 9-4 at third singles.
- 15 singles wins tied for second on the squad.
- Was 10-10 in doubles action.
- Was 1-0 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles action at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
- Defeated VCU's Victoria Matasova, 6-3, 6-3, to clinch the Rams' win over VCU in the A-10 championship match.
- Named Second Team All-Atlantic 10 last year.

Carlota Casasampere Escoda (Gr., Barcelona, Spain IES Valles (Long Beach)
- Went 21-10 in singles play, 11-3 at fifth singles.
- 21 singles wins were most of anyone on the squad.
- Was 12-12 in doubles action.
- 12 doubles win ranked second on the squad.
- Was 2-0 in singles play, including a 6-0, 6-0, win over VCU's Anja Draskovic in the title match, and 3-0 in doubles action at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
- Received a master's degree in Media Management in 2023.
