BRONY, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis team took advantage of a beautiful spring day on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts where the Rams defeated LIU, 7-0, on Tuesday.
Fordham opened the match taking the doubles point, winning two doubles matches.
Julianne Nguyen and
Aya Matsunaga defeated Leena Kuittinen and Ksenia Reznitskaya, 6-0, at first doubles and the Rams took third doubles by default.
Isabella Aguiar and
Sofie Siem were leading 5-0 over Emma Jane Barclay and Paula Guillen Cerver at second doubles when the match was halted.
The Rams then won all four contested singles matches.
Paola Dalmonico won at first singles over Ksenia Reznitskaya, 6-2, 6-3, while
Valerija Kargina upended Paula Guillen Cerverat second singles, 6-3, 6-3.
Catalina Padilla was victorious over Leena Kuittinen at the third position, 6-2, 6-2, and
Lily Chitambar took the first set from Emma Jane Barclay at fourth singles before Barclay retired.
