Track & Field Opens Competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championship

Steven Zucca Takes Silver in the 10,000 Meters, while Kathryn Kelly Earns Bronze in the Long Jump

Fairfax, Va. – (May 13, 2023) – Competition at the 2023 ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championship is underway at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Virginia.
 
Through Saturday, Fordham stands in a tie for 18th in the men's team standings with eight points, while the women are 19th with 8.5 points.
 
Fordham scored in three events on Saturday, highlighted by Steven Zucca earning a silver medal in the 10,000-meter run, as he placed second in 30:19.57.
 
The Rams also medaled in the women's long jump, where Kathryn Kelly took bronze for a third-place finish with a distance of 19' 4 ¾".

The last scorer for Fordham on the day was Jana Rokitta in the women's high jump, as she tied for fourth, clearing 5' 6".
 
In addition to the scoring events, Fordham had two runners qualify for Sunday's final in the women's 100-meter dash.  Kyla Hill qualified sixth for the finals at 11.98 seconds, while Kelly was seventh in 11.99 seconds.  Dillyn Green also competed, as she was 21st overall in 12.45 seconds.
 
Over in the men's 100-meter dash, Kenneth Maxwell (10.83) and Christian Weddington (10.87) finished ninth and 13th, respectively.
 
The remaining events for Fordham on Saturday included both editions of the 800- and 1,500-meter events, as well as the women's 5,000 meters.  In the 800 meters, Helen Connolly (2:13.05) and Mary Kathryn Underwood (2:13.25) were 14th and 16th, respectively, in the women's event, while Zalen Nelson (1:52.89) and Yariv Simhony (1:56.01) were 18th and 32nd in the men's event.
 
The 1,500 meters saw Alexandra Thomas place 19th in 4:42.39 for the women, while Nathan Bezuneh (3:51.92) and Rodolfo Sanchez (3:55.04) were 17th and 27th for the men.
 
Lastly, Caroline McDonagh was 22nd in the women's 5,000-meter run in 17:59.05, followed by Nathania Tan in 23rd at 18:17.24.
 
Competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championship concludes on Sunday.
