Bronx, N.Y. – (February 12, 2023) – The Fordham squash team had its final regular season matches on Sunday morning, finishing with a pair of victories over Lehigh and Johns Hopkins.
With the two wins, Fordham finishes the regular season with a 19-8 record.
The Rams opened Sunday with a 6-3 win over Lehigh, beginning with
Henry Frawley at the top spot defeating George Bancroft in three games, 11-3, 11-2, and 11-4.
Bennett Van Liew continued his strong play this weekend, recording his third win at the second slot, defeating Matthew Wellstead in three games, 11-8, 11-6, and 11-7.
Fordham then earned wins at the fourth through seventh positions, as well as a default point at ninth position.
Robert Cruikshank topped Luke Saviano at the #4 slot (11-6, 11-4, 11-3), while
Nicholas Choo defeated Diego Velazquez at #5 (11-4, 11-8, 11-8). Then,
Caleb Schumacher earned a three-game win at #6 over Tim Isola (11-6, 11-4, 11-5).
In match two on Sunday, Fordham capped the regular season with a 6-3 win over Johns Hopkins.
All six Rams that won against Lehigh also won against Johns Hopkins, five of which were in three games. The lone match to go four games was Choo's match against Andy Jaramillo at the fifth slot, which finished 10-12, 13-11, 11-2, and 11-2.
The Rams now set their sights on the 2023 CSA Team Championship, which will be February 24-26. Matches will be in split locations in Hartford and Middletown, Connecticut.
