Bronx, N.Y. – (November 10, 2023) – The NCAA Northeast Regional Championship took place at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx for the second straight year on Friday, as 37 teams and over 500 runners took their shot at qualifying for next week's NCAA Championship.
The regional began with the women's 6K race, where Syracuse had the top score of 98 points, followed by Boston College (109), Providence (137), Harvard (140), and Columbia (168) to round out the top five. Fordham placed 34
th out of the 37 teams competing with a score of 982.
Harvard's Maia Ramsden was the individual region winner, clocking in with a time of 19:24.4 over the 6K course.
For Fordham,
Meredith Gotzman was the top finisher in 149
th place in a time of 22:20.1, the best time for a Rams over a 6K course this season.
Sarah Zahaykevich was the next Ram across the line in 188
th in 23:00.0, followed by
Marin Bogulski in 196
th (23:06.0),
Maddy Kopec in 224
th (23:45.0), and
Clodagh McGroary in 235
th (24:02.7).
In the men's race, Iona won the Northeast Regional team title with a team score of 40 points with Harvard (57), Syracuse (97), Providence (145), and Cornell (161), rounding out the top five teams. The Rams ended up 22
nd out of 37 teams with a score of 621 points.
It was a Harvard sweep for the individual title, as the Crimon's Graham Blanks crossed the 10K finish line first in a time of 29:31.6.
The Rams were led by
Steven Zucca, who finished 42
nd overall in a personal-best time of 30:29.7 over a 10K course, while
Colin Flood was 89
th in 31:10.3.
Sean Reidy was the next Fordham finisher in 119
th place at 31:39.7 with
Nicolas Grabarz in 178
