Swimming & Diving Remains Unbeaten with Dual Meet Sweep of Monmouth

Fordham Women Win 173-89, while Men Earn 163-99 Victory

Bronx, N.Y. – (October 21, 2023) – The Fordham swimming & diving team capped off a busy week of action on Saturday afternoon, as the Rams remained unbeaten in dual meet competition with a sweep at Monmouth.  The Fordham women posted a 173-89 win over the Hawks, while the men completed the sweep with a 163-99 victory.
 
The meet began with Fordham winning both 200 medley relay events.  The women's team of Jane Brown, Emma Shaughnessy, Jessica Zebrowski, and Alison Lin posted a winning time of 1:45.72, while the men's group of Christian Taylor, Kevin Zahariev, Guy Gropper, and Noah Althoff registered a top time of 1:32.20.
 
The next event win for Fordham was in the women's 200 freestyle, where Manon Compagner grabbed first place in a time of 1:53.75.
 
The Rams then swept the 100 backstroke and breaststroke events.  In the women's 100 backstroke, Jane Brown took first at 57.69 seconds, while Taylor won the men's event in 50.36 seconds.  Then in the breaststroke, Shaughnessy was the top women's time at 1:04.62, with Althoff recorded the best men's time at 58.72 seconds.
 
After Monmouth won both 200 butterfly, the Rams put down the hammer, winning the final 16 events to close out the meet.
 
That stretch of events began with a sweep in the 50 freestyle, where Zebrowski had a winning women's time of 24.27 seconds with Gropper having the top men's time at 20.80 seconds.  Then in the 100 freestyle, Compagner won her second event at 52.19 seconds, while Alex Shah and Alex Wilhelm tied for first on the men' side at 47.25 seconds.
 
The 200 backstroke saw Leire Martin win the women's event in 2:03.68, while Taylor took first for the second time on the day in 1:52.93.  In the 200 breaststroke, Shaughnessy was the top women's time at 2:22.21, while Daniel Langlois had the top men's time in 2:10.65.

In the 500 freestyle, Emilie Krog was the women's winner in 5:10.08, while Wojciech Dutkowiak was the men's winner in 4:44.81.  Then in the 100 butterfly, Zebrowski grabbed first in the women's event in 56.41 seconds with Gropper being first on the men's side in 50.58 seconds.
 
The final individual winners came in the 200 individual medley, where Ainhoa Martin won the women's event (2:05.48) with Wilhelm taking the men's (1:57.18).
 
The meet concluded with Fordham winning both 400 freestyle relays in 3:31.67 (women) and 3:03 (men).
 
Fordham will next be in action on Saturday, November 4th, as the Rams travel to Georgetown for a 10:00 AM in Washington, D.C.
