Cross Country Runs at Stony Brook Invitational

Stony Brook, N.Y. – (September 3, 2022) – The Fordham cross country team opened its 2022 season on Saturday at the Stony Brook Invitational, held on Stony Brook's campus.
 
The Fordham men placed fourth out of six teams with 97 points.  Stony Brook was first at 17 points, followed by Wagner (66), and Columbia (73).  LIU (142) and Quinnipiac rounded out the team standings.
 
Individually, Steven Zucca had a top ten finish, clocking in at 19:16.6 over the 6K course, good for tenth, while Nicholas Grabarz was the next Ram cross the line at 19:54.0, which was 21^st overall.  Justin Lombardi finished 26^th in 20:18.30, followed by Zalen Nelson in 31^st (20:30.6), Ben Borchers in 33^rd (20:33.4), Matthew Febles in 37^th (21:00.9) and Trevor Rinn in 38^th (21:00.9).  Ryan Fahey (52^nd – 22:09.5) and Jack Reilly (56^th – 22:20.0) rounded out the Ram competitors in the 67-person field.

 
On the women's side, Fordham was fifth out of seven teams with 128 points.  Quinnipiac and Stony Brook each finished with a score of 46 points, but Quinnipiac took the team title with the higher individual finishes.  Columbia was third at 91 points with St. John's at 111.  LIU (128) and Wagner (161) rounded out the team standings.
 
Alexandra Thomas was Fordham's top runner in the 71-person field, as she registered a time of 14:54.4 over the 4K run, good for 12^th overall.  Caroline McDonagh was the next Ram across the line in 24^th at 15:19.4 with Mary Kathryn Underwood in 28^th at 15:28.8.
 
Marin Bogulski finished 39^th overall in 15:45.0, followed by Madeleine Ryan in 42^nd (15:55.9), Nicoleta Papavasilakis in 45^th (15:59.1), Nathania Tan in 48^th (16:05.7), and Taylor Mascetta in 49^th (16:12.5).  Rounding out the Saturday competitors for Fordham were Helen Connolly (53^rd – 16:26.3), Alexis Smith (57^th – 16:48.2), Jilli Jones (60^th – 17:01.2), Clodagh McGroary (61^st – 17:07.0), Emmy Longmore (62^nd – 17:13.7), Helen Moloney (64^th – 17:34.1) and Carolyn Cardell (65^th – 17:35.2).
 
The Rams are back in action on Saturday, September 10^th, when they host the Fordham Fiasco at Van Cortlandt Park.
